ARMENIAN BOLE

Dark red-brown composed of quartz, iron, aluminum, trace minerals, mined in Vayotz Dzor, Armenia. Semi-transparent, low flocculation, lightfast, mildly staining, warm tone, dark value, good tinting strength. Historically, Armenian bole was considered the best medium to make sketching crayons, used in the Medieval and Renaissance eras.

Similar to Terra Cotta, Crimson Light, Earth Red, Mummy Red Brown.
